Alexander Zverev wins the French Open to earn his first Grand Slam singles title

Alexander Zverev secured his premier Grand Slam championship on Sunday, defeating Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in a grueling five-set French Open final. The third-ranked German outlasted his Italian opponent 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1 on Court Philippe-Chatrier at Roland Garros, finally breaking through after losing his previous three major championship matches.
